Red Hawk Ranch 2017
As we give thanks this holiday season, we say farewell to 2017 and prepare for the 2018 horse show season at Red Hawk Ranch in Collinsville, TX.
We had a great year in 2017. We hosted 4 hunter/jumper events in partnership with the North Texas Hunter Jumper Club and the Dallas Hunter Jumper Scholarship Circuit. We started out slow with small shows and by the final competition in July, we posted over 120 entries for the Red Hawk Ranch Summer Fun Show! The kids loved the Ride A Buck class and swimming in the pond with their horses after the show. At one point, I looked out at the pond and there were 20 horses and their riders swimming all around the pond, little girls laughing and hanging out with together. Reminded me of my showing and riding days. What a beautiful site!!!
We also hosted dozens of mounted shooting events in the arena. Its quite interesting to watch as the horse and rider race around the arena shooting balloons and its good desensitizing for horses in the pasture.
We also hosted a few shooting events, a Father's Day fishing tournament and a turtle catch and release. We trap turtles in our pond and release them to Lake Ray Roberts. We are overrun with turtles and they eat all the fish spawn so we need to control that. The kids love releasing the turtles into Ray Roberts creek.
We are gearing up for the 2018 show season. We will host 4 hunter jumper shows again, more mounted shooting events, dressage and combined training events as well. Please check our website www.redhawkranch.org January 1 as the event calendar will be posted then.
