Red Hawk Ranch Frozen Solid

Happy New Year! Looking forward to a busy 2018 here at Red Hawk Ranch!

As you can see by the photo, it's quite cold in North Texas. Who needs a gym when you can lift a block of ice out of 300 gallon frozen water trough. LOL It took 6 trips carrying double-fisted buckets full of hot water to melt the ice enough to get it out of the trough. Lifting a 6-inch block of ice out of the horse trough is not for the faint of heart, my back and arms are screaming at me right now. And the horses just stand there looking at me like I'm not moving fast enough.

But now that all the horses have fresh, unfrozen water, I can focus on more exciting news like the 2018 show season! We are super excited to be hosting both the North Texas Hunter Jumper Club and the Dallas Hunter Jumper Scholarship Circuit organizations again, hosting two shows for both groups. We are already working on fun prizes and fun activities for all the shows. And, we look forward to more mounted shooting training clinics for our friends Natalie and Kris who compete all across the country.

We will be hosting a Fishing Tournament for Fathers and Sons at the July 29 show. Last year we hosted a tournament and two lucky fishermen each went home with $50 gift cards to Bass Pro Shop. One had the most fish caught (30 fish large mouth bass) and the other had the largest catch, a 3-lb large mouth bass. It was a great day of fishing for everyone! Just bring your tackle and bait and start fishing!

We are also working on dates for a schooling combined training event (dressage, cross country), dressage shows, and horsemanship clinics. Stay tuned for more information on theses events.

We are also in conversations to host the North Texas Whip group to host some of their driving trials. This group is an active bunch of carriage driving enthusiasts and we look forward to hosting their fun events here at the ranch.
